Welcome to Before I Die (“we”, “us”, “our”), available at beforeidie.site and our Memories Android app. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and your choices.
1. Who we are
Before I Die lets people share anonymous bucket-list wishes, generate shareable cards, browse inspiration pages, and use Memories — a signed-in social wall for photos, stories, follows, and comments.
2. Information we collect
Anonymous wishes & public content
When you submit wishes or similar public text, we store the content you type and related metadata (such as timestamps). Wish cards are designed to be shared; do not include personal contact details you do not want public.
Memories accounts (Google Sign-In)
If you use Memories, we use Google Sign-In. We may receive and store your Google account identifiers, display name, email address, and profile photo (as provided by Google), plus profile details you add (such as a bio or custom photo).
Memories activity
We store content you create or interact with, including posts, stories, likes, comments, follows, favourites, share invites, story view records, and in-app notifications.
Device & app data
On the Memories Android app we may store a device push token so we can send notifications when that feature is enabled. Browsers and apps may also send standard technical data (IP address, device/browser type) via our hosting and analytics providers.
Cookies & similar tech
We and our partners may use cookies or local storage for sign-in sessions, preferences (such as mood themes), analytics, and advertising (including Google AdSense where shown).
3. How we use information
- To run and improve Before I Die and Memories
- To show your content to other users as part of the product (for example public wishes, Discover feed, stories)
- To authenticate you and secure accounts
- To send in-app or push notifications related to social activity (when enabled)
- To understand usage with analytics and to show relevant ads where applicable
- To prevent abuse, spam, and policy violations
4. When we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data with service providers that help us operate the site, including:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, hosting-related services, analytics, and messaging infrastructure
- Google AdSense — advertising on some pages (subject to Google’s policies)
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety and integrity of users and the service.
5. Public vs private
Content you post in public areas (anonymous wishes, Memories Discover posts, stories, profile name/photo) can be seen by other visitors or signed-in users. Private account data (such as email) is not meant for public profile display, but may be stored for account operation.
6. Data retention
We keep information as long as needed to provide the service. Stories are designed to expire after about 24 hours in the product experience. Other content (wishes, posts, profiles) may remain until you delete it or we remove it for policy or operational reasons.
7. Your choices
- You can stop using the site at any time
- For Memories, you can sign out; you may request account/content deletion by contacting us
- You can control cookies/ads via your browser settings and Google’s ad settings
- You can revoke Google access from your Google Account permissions
8. Children
Before I Die is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). Do not use Memories with Google Sign-In if you are under the applicable age for consent.
9. Security
We use reputable cloud providers and access controls, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Please avoid posting sensitive personal data in wishes or public posts.
10. International users
Our providers may process data in the United States or other countries. By using the service, you understand your information may be transferred to those locations.
11. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
